non profit

FINAL POSTER.jpg

My task was to create a poster illustrating how color and composition can work together to evoke emotion and identity. I was assigned a Seattle non-profit organization , Velocity Dance Center, and design a poster that evokes the spirit of that organization. The objective was to create evocative imagery rather than be too literal. The poster could ignore the organization’s brand colors, imagery, etc. Experimenting with abstract image-making off the computer was strongly encouraged. The title- font, weight, and color- were not allowed to be changed.

I created a poster that encourages the eye to move around the page by offsetting the text set on three invisible anchoring lines. Each silhouette of a dancer represents different skin tones, playing into one of the dance center’s core values. I printed the poster on matte card, which made each color and line pop against the grey background.
